ahh..
blogging in absolute comfort.
my brother's room, air-conditioned.
the heat these past few days have been simply
unbearable.the sun certainly isn't holding
anything back.
i bore its full wrath on fri and sunday
when i was at the indoor stadium
queuing up for the Benny Hinn healing crusade.
gosh.the worst was on sunday.
my cell group had to wait for almost an hour under
the scorching sun.
thankfully i didn't get dark =x
school's starting soon.
in fact orientation is on thurs and fri.
i don't feel like going.
if it wasn't compulsory i wouldn't..
cos its at 8 30 in the morning!Howhow?
I can only wake up earliest after 12 these
few days.
sigh..bad slping habits..
finally, this saturday i can start serving in
the bookstore ministry!
but the reporting time is abnormally early
this week.
10 am.
i think it'll end at 9+pm?
with service in between.
cos the stuff at the indoor stadium will be shifted
back, which means lotsa packing to do.
once again today i am reminded of this statement:
Its a free world.
no matter how controlled we think we are,
we def. have freedom when it comes
to our finances and our choices.
take for instance:smoking.
people know its bad, but they still do it.
we may try to stop them with campaigns,
and most recently, freaky ads but
ultimately, in the end it is still their choice.
we can't exactly stop them can we?
i mean, they are using their own $$ to buy
cigarettes, and the choice is theirs.
can we stop them?
nope.
as long as the cigarette trade is still
legal, and ongoing,
we can't stoppeople from smoking.cos its a free world.
all we can do is prevention and punishment.
take for instance stealing/shoplifting.
we try to prevent it, by installing CCTV,
hiring more security guards to patrol malls, etc.
we discourage people from doing it by punishing
offenders, in the hope of stopping others from doing it.
we send them to jail, cane them, fine them, etc.
but in the end. we can't exactly stop stealing, can we?
we can only discourage it.
if you think about things this way,
you'll realise that many things in
this world is out of our control.
because we can't control the human mind.
we can't dictate people's choices for them.
we can't stop crime.
and i think that no matter how efficient
a law system is,
it is still useless against the human mind.
it can't stop people from committing crimes,
because if in the end people
1)Decide not to care about the consequences,
2)Think that they can get away from it,
crime is never gonna stop,
unless every criminal can be nabbed during the crime
and put behind bars.
the importance of the human mind must never
be understated.what if one day someone
just feels like bombing several places?
just because of one person's unstability, the world
will be put in danger.
that makes me realise how much we are depending
on the police to nab criminals/terrorists in the act.
but the police is merely a force.
a human force.
and its numbers are limited too.
people/things are never fully reliable.
if they fail, we'll have to pay the price,
because we
relied on
them.
and
trusted them.
but yet so many times,
we
depend on them.
or at least that is what we tell ourselves
as an excuse for laziness.
how many of us are actually vigilant
while taking public transport?
how many of us observe a suspicious person
throughout the whole ride?
we probably just spare them a glance
or two before plugging back our mp3s.
food for thought.
wow.
i actually started out this entry
not knowing what to write.
but one thing lead to another,
and i have reached the end of my post.
much <3,
Clara.
